Melissa Juchniewicz is a New England writer and a member of New Hampshire Writers’ Project, Hyla Brook Poetry Workshop, and other writing communities. She won a top prize for her story “Working” in Free Spirit’s anthology Blue Collar. A two-time winner of the MacGregor Prize for Poetry, she’s been published in literary journals including Orca, Light, BrightFlash and The Offering. MockingOwl is currently serializing a short story collection of her signature “Will and May” stories.

Dr. Juchniewicz teaches writing, as well as children’s and young adult literature, at University of Massachusetts Lowell, and facilitates memoir writing workshops throughout New England.

Phenomentally Hollow By Faith.Marie 62 lines, I was born in 1962 after Maya Angelou’s Phenomenal Woman Pretty women wonder where my secret lies. I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size But when I start to tell them, They think I’m telling lies.
