Award-winning poet Miriam Damaris Maldonado is an active promoter of cultural events in Houston and a founder/member of Colectivo Colibrí. She is an essayist, narrator, dancer, and activist. She also serves the community as a Social Worker. Her book Enraizada was published in 2022 in Spain and is now in the English version as Rooted. She is currently the manager of the Project of Puerto Rican Literature and just received the Bipoc Artist Award.
