Eyes

Author: Ray Dio Ryterski

My hair hangs in front of my eyes because I like to keep it that way.
It doesn’t matter that my hair is blocking my line of vision since I’m blind anyways.
This way, I can’t see out and the rest of the world can’t see in. It’s perfectly fair.
But you insist on brushing away the hair from in front of my face because you’re entitled to see the eyes you like so much.
“If you like them so much, I’ll give them to you. I’ll cut them out like Saint Lucia,”
is what I want to say in response, but I don’t.
The story goes that Saint Lucia was only loved by people because she had pretty eyes.
Saint Lucia was only loved for her outward appearance. Now where have we heard this before? Sound familiar to you?
If I served you my eyes on a silver platter like she did, I wouldn’t be able to laugh at the look on your face, but it would be so worth it.
So cut it out, will ya?
The audacity to have such an attitude.
