Ray Dio Ryterski

My name is Ray Dio Ryterski, my pronouns are they/them, and I am a disabled poet from the United States. I’ve always wanted to be a writer ever since I was a little kid, and am happy to report that I have made my dream a reality. Over the years, I have adopted poetry as my calling, writing various stand alone pieces for several online outlets and releasing my first book of poetry, We, Who Walked Beneath The Stars, in 2023.

For me, what keeps me motivated is the opportunity I have to make a difference in the lives of my readers. In the past, other writers and creatives have given me the means to express what I was feeling. When I write, I strive to give others the right words to express the things that they don’t know how to express. Through my own voice, I encourage others to raise their own voices and tell their truths so that one day, they will find wholeness and peace for themselves.

Working with Poets’ Choice has been a wonderful experience for me. The staff at Poets’ Choice are friendly and easy to work with, and they guided me through the publishing process informatively, making sure to keep me updated at every step. Not only is Poets’ Choice good at what they do, but they also make sure that they publish a variety of diverse voices and experiences. Because of their expertise and mindset when it comes to publishing, I would strongly reccommend submitting your work to Poets’ Choice.

Don’t walk by my laundry stand, I’ve just hung a thread. Don’t send me a text – I’ll climb  between the lines to look for you. Don’t use that still eye on me, I’ll lose my rest, this incubation. Don’t make shadows play trickery in the space I’ve made

I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size    But when I start to tell them, They think I’m telling lies. I say, It’s in the reach of my arms, The span of my hips,    The stride of my step,    The curl of my lips.    I’m a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman,    That’s me.
