The stories in this collection explore journeys of both kinds. The Train section mainly focuses on literal journeys—actual locomotives, actual passengers, and the events that unfold as the world slides past windows and strangers become temporary companions.
The Omnibus section focuses more on journeys that are internal, psychological. A zombie apocalypse leads to a blossoming romance and a change of perspective. A terminal illness triggers reminiscences of loved ones and a decision to take matters in hand. And paralysis leads a wandering mind on a tumultuous adventure, sometimes soaring, sometimes falling.
Binding both sections together is the truth that journeys are not only about locations. Like a train changing trajectory while still staying on track, our minds take detours at significant milestones, and our lives pivot.
