Essay cluster 3 – A Place I Once Visited

US$25.00

I was in a familiar alleyway. I peeped into a building on my right, where there were people gathered and I saw a body lying on the floor covered in white sheets. Whilst no one looked familiar, the building was familiar. It was Chanakya, a place I once lived till I was 6years old.
The main gate was open ajar. I reached the tunnel which was eerily the entry point to enter into the building. It was too small and narrow. Someone seated inside in front of my eyes on a porch of the flat on the ground floor called out, seeing me, “Its too small for you.”
And, I woke up from my dream. I felt liberated. Liberated from a memory which had latched onto me for over 30 years.
Sanity dawned: a realization of how a particular place latches onto you. Like that place where I’d once lived had been kept alive inside me, whilst in reality it was dead long back.
When I myself did a dream analysis it turned out that the death was symbolic of a new beginning in manifestation, approaching me. The no-go passage was symbolic of a powerful message to look ahead in life, a clear directive telling me I’d long surpassed that age.
It made a significant impact especially when this dream played within me on Guru Purnima.
Busting that nostalgia into nothingness. That nostalgia, within me, which had been creating attachment bound with meaning. That nostalgia which had weighed heavy in emotional strength for over three decades; is a feat to watch disappear like a vapor, today.
Indeed, worth celebrating!!
