I’m Not A Woman

Author: Leah Mockridge

I’m not a woman
I’m a fleeting feeling
A good time call
The love you seek after the last round
I want to be the one you come home to
Even if it’s only for the night

I’m not a woman
I’m red skids on your shirt collar
And scratches down your back
A reminder of the body we shared
I want to be found
So I find myself falling into any arms that open for me

I’m not a woman
I’m the stain on your sheets
An impression in your memory foam
a bruise on your neck
I want to slip out of my skin
Because men like it more when it’s crumpled on their floor

I’m not a woman
I’m your phone blowing up
Ten missed calls
And unread texts
I want to test you
To see if I still matter in the morning

I’m not a woman
I’m a phantom left longing
